Mars Finance News, benefiting from the massive demand for optical fiber cables driven by the construction of AI computing power networks, the price of optical fiber preforms (hereinafter referred to as "preforms"), the "mother" of fiber optic manufacturing, has risen rapidly compared to early 2025: the price of G.652D general-purpose preforms has increased by over 180%; for G.657.A2 type preforms used in high-density data center wiring, the price per equivalent core kilometer has risen from 22 yuan to 30 yuan, an increase of nearly 550%. Several listed companies stated that the current round of preform price increases are jointly caused by supply and demand imbalances and upstream raw material price transmission, and it is expected that the shortage will continue until 2027.
