According to Mars Finance News, citing reports from Jintiao, Japanese Finance Minister Kōzō Katayama (Kōzō Katayama) held an emergency online meeting with officials from the U.S. Department of the Treasury on the evening of June 22 local time. With the yen nearing its lowest level in 39 years, sources said she may have discussed trends in the foreign exchange market and the possibility of foreign exchange intervention with U.S. Treasury Secretary Bessent. Earlier, during intraday trading, the USD/JPY exchange rate saw a sharp drop, sparking speculation in the market that Japanese authorities had already intervened.
