Ethereum Foundation leadership changes spark community discussion

Abstract generation in progress
Crypto news, as Ethereum Foundation (EF) Co-Executive Director Wang Xiaowei announcing his resignation from leadership, the community has once again begun discussions about the future of the foundation. This is the latest in a series of recent executive departures, drawing more attention to the organization's management and direction. Wang Xiaowei stated he will return to a role more focused on research. Over the past five months, at least eight senior members have left the foundation, prompting a reevaluation of internal governance and organizational culture. The foundation recently launched a new strategic framework called "CROPS," aimed at clarifying its mission and strengthening Ethereum's core values. While supporters see this as a reaffirmation of Ethereum's founding principles, critics argue it fails to address issues of execution and organizational effectiveness. Former Ethereum researcher Dankrad Fuest pointed out that the departures reflect deeper management problems rather than strategic disagreements. Despite the challenges, Fuest believes Ethereum itself remains resilient.

Five months, eight people. If this turnover rate were in a DeFi protocol, it would have been killed by FUD long ago.

Wang Xiaowei returning to a research position at least indicates that there are still people working on the technology, which is better than pure management.

Half of the executives have left, and they're still making empty promises.
The name CROPS sounds like an agricultural project.

The foundation should learn from DAOs, at least making on-chain voting more transparent.

Dankrad is right; resilience is resilience. When everyone leaves, who will write the code?
