Abstract generation in progress
Gold Finance reports that on June 22, Stanford University professor, known as the "AI godmother," and co-founder of World Labs, Li Feifei, along with MasterClass CEO David Rogier, recently appeared together on a podcast. When discussing what kind of people can thrive in the AI era, they mentioned the same word: Agency. Li Feifei stated that in the face of such a powerful cognitive technology, Agency is the key; familiarize yourself with it, master it, don't be afraid, don't avoid it.
Rogier mentioned that there is already a "bell curve" structure within companies: one end is top experts, whose skills are in the top 1%, and ordinary people plus LLMs can't catch up; the other end is highly proactive generalists who can do many things well, have strong judgment, drive progress, and know when to collaborate with top experts; the middle layer, which only completes standard tasks, is being squeezed the most.
Li Feifei agrees with this assessment and said that both ends require Agency. Experts need to use tools to amplify their depth, and generalists need to use tools to cross past their previous ability boundaries. company structures will also change: the boundaries of what individuals can do and cannot do will be lowered, and the division of labor between positions will be redrawn. If middle managers only define themselves as "responsible for this process," they can easily be overtaken by those who are smaller, more proactive, and better at calling tools.
