Today, UK Prime Minister Stamer announced his resignation, and the direct reason was that he had lost support within his own party.

But Stamer’s resignation is actually also closely and intricately tied to the Epstein case.
In 2024, Stamer became UK Prime Minister. He was urgently looking for someone who understood American politics and could deal with the Trump administration to serve as the UK ambassador to the United States, so he chose Mandelson.
The problem was that Mandelson had long been exposed by the media for having close ties with Epstein, and there were also people within the UK government who reminded Stamer of the risks, but the appointment still went ahead.
In February 2025, Mandelson officially took office as the UK ambassador to the U.S., and by September, it was reported that he had a very close relationship with Epstein, referring to him as “my best buddy,” and he was also suspected of leaking government information to Epstein.
On his first day, Stamer publicly supported Mandelson, but the very next day he quickly dismissed him.
Later, it was also revealed that Mandelson initially had not passed the government’s background security clearance; the screening officials explicitly said they did not recommend allowing him access to confidential information, but Stamer insisted that he didn’t know anything about the security review.
This is also one of the key scandals that dealt a blow to the credibility of the Stamer government.
