A little information about the football match.

Jordan – Algeria

Jordan

The Jordanian national team performed honorably in its World Cup debut, despite a final defeat to Austria with a score of 1:3. Jamal Sellami’s squad did not retreat behind its own goal and, at times, looked highly competitive against a more high-profile opponent.

The first half was played out in a fairly even struggle. The Jordanians did not fall behind in intensity, created chances, and tried to make active use of the flanks. After conceding a goal, the team did not unravel, and already at the start of the second half it managed to restore balance thanks to Ali Olwan’s accurate strike, which scored Jordan’s first-ever goal in World Cup history. However, the lack of experience in such tournaments then showed. The Austrians gradually took over the initiative, forced the opponent to defend more, and in the closing stages took advantage of mistakes. First, an own goal was scored, and then, in stoppage time, the penalty was converted. Despite the loss, Jordan left a pleasant impression.

Musa Al-Tamari was especially active—he regularly created danger on his flank. The team showed good speed in transitioning from defense to attack and readiness to play open, attacking football. However, defensive problems did not go away. Under serious pressure, the back line starts making mistakes, and the high intensity of the first match will certainly affect the players’ physical condition in the second game in a row.
