Codex completely got rid of my wife. Recently, she’s been wanting to do something physical—set up a stall and open a shop. In the past couple of days, she asked around in the core-area alleys of Guilin. The rent is 4,200 per month, the deposit is 2w, and the deposit won’t be refunded unless the place is rented for a full year. It’s just a small wooden house of a little over 10 square meters. I’m thinking, with that foot traffic and that rent, no wonder so many businesses nearby have gone under. The break-even ratio just feels a bit off.
