Many people get nervous when they hear about contracts, thinking it's advanced gameplay.
Actually, if you break it down, there are only three core components: margin, leverage, and liquidation line.
Everything else is just emotional amplification.
With the same position of 1,000 USD, you can open a 10x position with 100 USD, or a 20x position with 50 USD.
When the market moves upward, both seem to make similar profits, but the real difference appears when the market reverses.
For example, a 1% drop: at 10x, it's just a small pullback, and the account can still hold, but at 20x, the drawdown is amplified, quickly consuming margin, and approaching the liquidation line much faster.
Conan won't let you get liquidated!
So, many people get liquidated not simply because they see the wrong direction, but because the leverage is too high, squeezing their tolerance space too small.
When the market fluctuates slightly, the account gets wiped out immediately.
But it's not that high leverage can't be used.
If your principal isn't large—say a few hundred to a thousand USD—and you want to trade multiple assets at once, using higher leverage appropriately can actually improve capital efficiency and make your positions more flexible.
The key point is one: you must trade lightly, have clear stop-losses, and execute decisively.
You can't hold onto losing positions, nor add more after losing.
The more of these actions you take, the more high leverage becomes a risk amplifier rather than a tool.
Conversely, if your goal is to stay safe and survive longer, lower leverage is actually more comfortable because it leaves room for maneuver.
During market oscillations, you're less likely to be wiped out and can wait patiently for the trend to emerge.
In the end, it all boils down to one sentence: if you want to last longer, don’t max out your leverage—use space to buy time.
For those with small capital, quick reactions, and strong execution, increasing efficiency appropriately is possible.
But the priority must always be risk control, not betting on the market direction.
Contracts have no standard answer; only what suits your current rhythm.
