Golden Finance reports that on June 22, the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR) released a poll showing that up to two-thirds of the British public believe that the decision to leave the EU in 2016 has had a negative impact on the UK. They believe that "Brexit" has driven up living costs, failed to deliver a better life, and has instead weakened the UK's ability to address issues most important to voters. Among respondents, 56% think that "Brexit" is not beneficial for solving illegal immigration problems or for trade; 57% believe that "Brexit" has reduced opportunities for young people; 57% consider "Brexit" a mistake. ECFR pointed out that three-quarters of the British want to establish closer ties with the EU; the British prefer Europe over the United States as their primary security partner, with only 18% viewing the U.S. as an ally.
