  • Matt Damon, founder of Water.org, is one of the keynote speakers at Ripple’s Swell event in October.
  • The award-winning actor is expected to share his insights on how Ripple’s unified payment, liquidity, and treasury solutions enable efficient value transfers between the organization and its partner communities.

Ripple, the world’s leading blockchain infrastructure provider, has recently partnered with Water.org, a global non-profit organization (NPO). As part of their partnership, Matt Damon, an award-winning Hollywood actor and founder of Water.org, will share his insights at the upcoming Swell event hosted by Ripple on October 27 to 29 this year in New York.

Swell is Ripple’s annual flagship conference. The event, launched in 2017, brings together leaders in traditional finance (TradFi), decentralized finance (DeFi), regulators, and various industries. It serves as a forum for discussing institutional crypto adoption and the future of global payments.

The Ripple and Water.org Partnership

Water.org’s advocacy focuses on providing people with safe access to safe water and sanitation amid the rising problem of water bankruptcy. According to its official website, the organization has already provided its services to over 92 million people, but the figures are a mere fraction of its estimated 2.1 billion demand for safe water and sanitation.

ADVERTISEMENTIn early June, Water.org announced its exclusive partnership with Ripple. The collaboration enables the NPO to leverage the blockchain infrastructure provider’s unified payments, deep liquidity, and treasury management systems.

Additionally, the partnership allows Water.org’s Get Blue campaign to integrate Ripple USD (RLUSD), unlocking a humanitarian use case for Ripple’s flagship stablecoin. The program bridges corporate donations and offers microloans to finance safe water networks. Starbucks and Amazon, Ripple’s institutional partners, have also joined the global effort.

To date, Water.org operates across 15 countries in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Its approach combines philanthropy, investment, and infrastructure.

Damon is known for his award-winning and high-grossing films, including Saving Private Ryan and the Jason Bourne movies. He is the protagonist in The Odyssey, directed by Christopher Nolan and opening in theaters on July 17.

The founder of Water.org’s speech will highlight the application of Ripple’s blockchain-based solutions to its smart services and small loans via WaterCredit under the Get Blue campaign. Moreover, Ripple’s infrastructure has found its utility in the NPO’s private capital funding network through WaterEquity and the development of infrastructure projects through WaterConnect.

Swell revealed that Water.org has already deployed $7.7 billion using Ripple’s blockchain infrastructure.
