to those 'friends' who are physically here but emotionally elsewhere — no matter if China is poor, backward, or has a flawed system, it is still our homeland,It has given us safety and peace in our lives.

on one side, they use simplified chinese to badmouth and mock their own country at every turn; on the other, they don't have the money for investment immigration or the skills for skilled migration. they live here but dream of abroad every day. these are failures by any measure — in their lives, their work, their character, and their conduct — failures across the board. The strong don't complain about circumstances; they change them.
a loser who blames their personal failures on the flaws of the national system is just running away from reality and making excuses.
In my view, such people don't even deserve to use Simplified chinese. what's pathetic is that they usually can't even express their opinions in English or any other language either. as the saying goes, a son never finds his mother ugly, and a dog never despises its home for being poor.
