Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker approved a $56 billion budget that includes a 0.2% tax on digital asset business activity. The tax applies to businesses that exchange, store, or transfer digital assets for Illinois residents. A person following the process said the tax is expected to raise around $60 million. Two people following the matter said the provision was added last-minute, and the legislature is now out of session for the year.
