Foreign holdings of U.S. Treasury bonds reach $9.35 trillion, hitting the second-highest record in history

Mars Finance News: On June 21, foreign holdings of U.S. Treasury bonds in April increased by $3.9 billion to reach $9.35 trillion, setting the second-highest record in history. Japan, the largest foreign holder of U.S. Treasuries, increased its holdings by $18.3 billion to $1.21 trillion, the highest since February. The United Kingdom, the second-largest holder, increased holdings by $10.6 billion to a record $937.5 billion. China, the third-largest holder, reduced holdings by $1.2 billion to $651.1 billion, the lowest since September 2008. Meanwhile, Canada, the seventh-largest foreign holder, reduced holdings by $42.3 billion to $397.1 billion, the lowest since January. The U.S. Treasury market is growing, but it remains fragmented.
