My boomer uncle is always sharing articles claiming Gen Z just doesn’t want to work.

He retired at 60 with a pension, a mortgage-free home, and plenty saved.
So I asked what his first full time job paid.
About $7.25 an hour in the early 1980s.
Adjusted for inflation, that’s roughly $27 an hour today.
Meanwhile, plenty of entry level jobs around me still pay $17-18 an hour.
The difference wasn’t that they worked harder.
It’s that their work was valued enough to build a life.
