On the evening of June 20th at 7:00 PM, the second round of Group E in the World Cup group stage, Ecuador versus Curaçao, took place at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, USA.

This match was officiated by Chinese referee Ma Ning as the main referee, Zhou Fei as the assistant referee, and Fu Ming as the Video Assistant Referee (VAR).
In the first half, Ma Ning issued two yellow cards within one minute and successfully settled multiple controversial decisions.
In the second half, he repeatedly issued cards for malicious fouls by players from both sides, effectively controlling the on-field situation.
It is worth mentioning that Ma Ning served as the main referee in this World Cup, and following Lu Jun’s role as the head referee at the 2002 Korea-Japan World Cup, Chinese referees have not been on the World Cup field for 24 years.
Ma Ning also became the only Chinese referee to be selected for the World Cup referee list in two consecutive tournaments.
He previously served as the fourth official six times at the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
Fu Ming became the first Chinese referee to serve as a VAR at the World Cup; prior to this, he had assisted as a Video Assistant Referee (SVAR) in three matches during this tournament.
Zhou Fei became the first Chinese assistant referee to officiate on the field.
