BlockBeats News, June 21 — Ben Goertzel, Chair of the AGI Society and Chief Scientist of the Sophia Robot, stated that artificial general intelligence (AGI) is "too important to be controlled by venture capital or a few tech companies," and advocates for building an open, decentralized AGI system through blockchain networks to replace closed models like OpenAI and Anthropic.

Goertzel promotes related initiatives through his project SingularityNET and the "Artificial Superintelligence Alliance," which operate on a cryptographic network and aim to make AI capabilities collectively owned and maintained by users worldwide. He emphasizes that simply open-sourcing the code is not enough; AGI must run on distributed infrastructure, or it will still be controlled by a few major computing power giants.

He proposed the concept of an "AI agent economy," where users can deploy multiple AI agents to collaborate on tasks and execute transactions. The system will eventually offer paid AI services, maintaining a decentralized backend architecture while hiding the blockchain infrastructure from end-users.

Goertzel predicts that AGI may emerge between 2027 and 2030, warning that if technological development is concentrated in only a few countries or companies, it could exacerbate global inequality. He stated that his first AI agent product, Omega Claw, will be released soon.
