It's the durian season again. This year's Musang King durians are a bumper harvest (especially in the Wenzhong high-altitude area).

For those passing through Singapore and Malaysia, you're welcome to try them. The prices should be the cheapest since COVID (referring to Musang King, other varieties haven't changed much).
Why is this happening? Because there is an oversupply of Musang King durians.
Going back to after COVID, Musang King durians were allowed to be exported to mainland China, so many people saw this business opportunity after COVID and started grafting Musang King varieties (new trees). And this year? They just happen to be mature, all blooming at once.
This has created a rare scene where only Musang King durian prices drop.
At this time, eating old-tree Musang King is very satisfying because overall prices have come down, including the prices of old trees.
In this situation—it's time to enjoy some good ones.
How to identify old trees?
The spines are relatively less prickly.
The fruit stalks are thicker, with a slightly sandy texture.
Plus, the flesh has a bit of a "black-green" color—congratulations.
The taste is bitter-sweet and dense (the stringy ones are just haha).
It feels a bit like eating ice cream.
Finally: please verify the origin as Raub, Pahang (over 20 years old).
Risk warning:
Eating old-tree Musang King has a side effect:
Once you've eaten old trees, you can't go back. 🤣
