Xinhua News Agency Vancouver, June 19 — Behind the tactical formations of the 48 teams participating in the US, Canada, and Mexico World Cup, there is a sophisticated game of strategy. 4-4-2, 5-3-2, 4-2-3-1… Some formations emphasize offense, some focus on defensive compactness, and others are designed specifically to stimulate the individual abilities of star players within the team.
Regardless of the formation, the coach's goal is to maximize the abilities and characteristics of the players on the field, while implementing targeted measures to counter the opponent, in order to achieve victory.
