Ji Jie Net news: Bio Protocol has announced the launch of OpenLabs, a platform that combines AI-assisted research and development, community funding, and on-chain governance, aiming to challenge traditional funding processes. The platform was released on June 19, 2026 at the desci.berlin conference during Berlin Blockchain Week in Berlin, and has raised more than $33 million so far. OpenLabs allows researchers to develop scientific ideas, coordinate contributors, and seek funding on a single interface, without relying on separate grant applications and governance platforms. Bio Protocol emphasizes that community members can vote on research proposals, while AI-driven workflows will help researchers develop and refine projects. Despite the launch, Bio Protocol’s token has fallen by more than 8% over the past 24 hours.

Berlin Blockchain Week announced, with a strong German flavor, but will on-chain governance research projects turn into a DAO voting coliseum?

AI-assisted research sounds like just making empty promises, but Bio Protocol did actually invest in a few promising projects before. Trust their first-hand experience.

$33 million sounds impressive, but an 8% drop in the token price indicates the market is voting with its feet. Let's wait until we see the projects that actually come out.
