The Cost of a Lesson

In 2025, I fell into a trap that almost made me quit crypto for good.
​I joined a group of anonymous callers doing live trades. In the beginning, the signals were hitting, and my portfolio was growing fast. I thought I’d found a shortcut. Then came the trap.
​The admin gave us a setup, told us to use our maximum portfolio, and explicitly said: "No stop-loss on this one, it’s a swing trade. Trust the process." Most of us in the group had accounts sitting between $500 to $1,000 money we couldn't afford to just throw away.
​For 24 hours, we held. Then, the chart turned into a bloodbath. As price cascaded down, we panicked and begged him to let us cut the position. He just replied: "No, wait and watch, it will bounce."
​Ten minutes later, the entire group was completely liquidated. Gone. 🥲
​The worst part? We found out later that the admin was getting paid directly based on our liquidation volume. We weren't his community; we were his exit liquidity.
​That devastating hit completely shifted my mindset, and it’s the exact foundation of my #MyGateTradeStory.
​Losing everything because of a manipulative caller forces you to grow up as a trader. You stop chasing anonymous "gurus" and start focusing on your own risk management, deep liquidity, and a platform that actually executes your orders when you need to cut a loss.
