FERC required regional grid operators to consider new agreements for large electricity users as U.S. data centers consume about 5% of electricity demand. Data Center Map data shows over 4,000 operational data centers in the U.S. Electric Power Research Institute statistics indicate that data center electricity demand could rise to approximately 20% by 2035.
