According to MarketWatch, on June 17, President Trump signed a U.S.-Iran Memorandum of Understanding to establish a peace framework. The agreement includes an immediate ceasefire, reopening the Strait of Hormuz oil shipping route, lifting the U.S. naval blockade on Iran, and setting a 60-day window for broader nuclear negotiations. Currently, Iran holds about 150 million barrels of oil in near-shore storage awaiting export. After the signing of the agreement, oil prices and U.S. Treasury yields both declined, creating a more accommodative financial environment for the stock market. Market analysts believe that easing tensions sends a positive signal for stocks, especially those related to technology and U.S. re-industrialization investments; however, gold faces headwinds due to falling yields and reduced geopolitical risk premiums.
