Mars Finance news: On June 20, U.S. President Donald Trump said in an Axios interview that if used improperly, AI can become a weapon; if used properly, AI will be a big deal—on a scale even larger than the internet. He said AI could help humans find medical cures for certain diseases 25 years earlier, but at the same time, people must remain vigilant. When asked whether he views Anthropic and its CEO Dario Amodei as a national security threat, Trump said, “Not right now, but maybe a week ago.” Trump said that he had just met with Dario Amodei; during the G7 summit, Amodei gave a speech and quickly responded to government requests. Trump said that Anthropic has, so far, behaved very responsibly.

Asked whether he would shut down or take over Anthropic, Trump said he does not want to do so because the U.S. is currently leading China significantly in the field of AI. Trump said AI needs massive amounts of electricity and proposed that AI companies build their own power plants. He said the benefits of AI outweigh the drawbacks, and the government will identify and prevent the unfavorable parts. When asked whether he would use the Defense Production Act to regulate or control AI, Trump said that if necessary, he would do so, but he is currently unsure whether it is required. He also said that at the G7, France proposed establishing an international organization and wants the U.S. to share more AI technology, but the U.S.’s problem is that “we are so far ahead of everyone else.”
