Trump on the midterm elections: Denies power has been weakened, says the claim of poll decline is "fake"
Mars Finance News. On June 20, U.S. President Trump, in an Axios interview, said that when asked whether his term is nearing its end, he does not think it is the end and that there are still two and a half years left. Regarding the claim that in the last midterm election when a president enters a second term, his party typically loses control of the House of Representatives and that polls begin to slide and his power starts to weaken, Trump said this is not the case, calling it a “fake poll,” and saying his polling numbers are very good and that he can defeat any opponent by a 25-percentage-point margin.
Trump said there are some “very major, very influential” things to do in the next two and a half years, including correcting bad things and making things that can be done better become better. When asked whether he would miss the White House, Trump said it is too early to talk about that now, and said he has been repairing the White House, with the costs paid by him personally and without using government funds.
Trump also said he is building “one of the greatest banquet halls and one of the safest safety nets in the world,” using bulletproof glass; the roof has anti-drone capability, and a high-altitude drone landing pad is being built on top. As for whether approval from the Senate is needed, Trump said no Senate approval is required, and that the funding comes from his own funds and from companies such as Apple and Microsoft, so there is no need for appropriations. He also said that Washington, D.C. has changed from a “death trap” into one of the safest cities in the United States.
