#我的Gate交易时刻

From 100U to 10,000U, I achieved this three times this month, and then all went back to zero

You might not believe it, but in 2017 I used 5,000 RMB in the crypto world to earn over ten million, then爆仓 and went back to zero, those past events are hard to recall. Let me talk about recent times; this month I went from 100U to 10,000U, not once, but three times.
The first was a bottom-fishing of a certain altcoin, which multiplied a hundred times, and I was trembling when I withdrew funds. The second was following on-chain data to catch a golden dog, which doubled fifty times in three days. The third was trading futures, catching a one-sided trend, rolling positions with compound interest, reaching a hundredfold.

And then? All three times, I went back to zero.

After earning 10,000U for the first time, I thought I was a genius. I started increasing my position size, ignoring 20% gains, thinking “profit is profit anyway, I won’t mind losing.” But what happened? A correction, profit retraced 30%, I was unwilling, held the position, it fell further, added to my position, and finally爆仓. The second time, I told myself I had to stay steady this time, but I only held steady for three days. On the fourth day, I saw an “opportunity,” thinking to try with a small position, then the small position became large, the large became heavy, and the heavy爆仓. The third time, I had even planned my take-profit in advance, but when the market came and greed arose, I threw that plan into the trash — telling myself “this time is different.”

Three doubles, three zeros. I finally understood a truth: in the crypto world, the difficulty of making big money with small funds is never “going from 0 to 1,” but how to protect the gains after earning.

“Conquering the land is easy, defending it is hard.” This phrase is more brutal in the crypto world than anywhere else.

Why is it hard? Because money comes too fast. You earn 10,000U from 100U in just a few days. That means your brain has no time to adapt to the wealth increase. You see 10,000U in your account, but your mentality, cognition, and risk awareness are still at the 100U stage. You’re trading with 100U leverage, dreaming of 100U gains, but risking your 10,000U principal. This is not investing; it’s building a house on a matchstick.

Even more terrifying, after making quick money, you lose patience for “slow money.” Having experienced 100x, a double feels dull; after a single-day double, a 20% annualized return seems a waste of time. Your threshold has been raised, but the market won’t always give you 100x opportunities. When the next trend no longer rises in a straight line, and volatility and corrections come, your inflated appetite will push you into high-risk operations — chasing highs, adding leverage, going all-in on altcoins. Then, back to zero.

“Going from 0 to 1” relies on courage and luck; “keeping 1” depends on discipline and against human nature.

My current understanding is, after earning 10,000U from 100U, the first thing isn’t celebration, not screenshotting and sharing on social media, but immediately withdrawing the principal and most of the profit. At least take out 8,000U, leaving 2,000U in the account to continue playing. This isn’t cowardice; it’s a form of self-protection. Because that 8,000U is meat you’ve wrested from the market’s mouth — once swallowed, it’s yours forever.

The remaining 2,000U, you can continue to play, but with a different mindset — it’s not “profit,” it’s your new principal. You’re no longer the gambler risking everything with 100U; you’re an investor holding 2,000U. Reduce your position size, lower leverage, lower expectations. You don’t need to double a hundred times; steady growth, even earning just 10% a month, is a hundred thousand times better than going broke three times a year.

And one more thing, it’s harsh but true: after爆赚, you must learn to “disappear” for a while. Because the mindset after making big money is the least suitable for decision-making. You’ll feel elated, inflated, thinking the market is your ATM. In this state, almost every decision you make will be wrong. So, the best approach is to turn off trading apps, go out, spend some money, and calm down. Let that money sit in your bank account for at least a month, so you can truly view it objectively — it’s not just a number on the screen; it’s a real part of your life.

Three times back to zero taught me one thing: in the crypto world, many can make money, but few can keep it. 100U to 10,000U is impressive. But if you end up back at zero, then that 10,000U is just a number, a story you tell others, not what you truly own.

True financial freedom isn’t about how much money was once in your account, but how much you can ultimately keep.

From today, I no longer chase “doubling,” I chase “not going back to zero.”
