Nobel laureate Jiang Po announces departure from DeepMind to join Anthropic

Golden Finance reports that on June 20th, senior research scientist John Jumper announced on Friday that he will leave Google DeepMind and join the artificial intelligence startup Anthropic. This is the latest high-profile departure of key talent from the tech giant's AI research division. Jumper previously shared the 2024 Nobel Prize with Demis Hassabis of Google, and is best known as the co-developer of AlphaFold. This breakthrough AI model has predicted over 200 million protein structures, significantly shortening the time required for biological and medical research. Jumper posted on social platform X: "After nearly nine years of work, I have decided to leave Google DeepMind and join Anthropic." Tech giants like Meta and Alphabet, Google's parent company, as well as emerging AI companies such as Anthropic and OpenAI, are engaged in fierce talent competition. All parties are vying to recruit top researchers and develop the next generation of AI systems.
