Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker signed a $55.9 billion state budget that includes a first-of-its-kind 0.2% tax on crypto assets. Beginning January 2027, digital asset brokers operating in Illinois must collect a 0.2% fee on the value of customer transactions.
