The author Alice Schroeder, the biographer of Warren Buffett in *The Snowball: Warren Buffett and the Business of Life*, revealed the golden advice that the legendary investor would constantly repeat regarding choosing a job and building a career.

Schroeder explained that Buffett always answered people’s question about the best place to work by saying: “Go to work for the person you have the greatest admiration and respect for.”

He believed that choosing the right work environment is no less important than choosing the right investment.

She added that Buffett viewed accepting only boring jobs simply because they look good on a resume as an illogical act, and he said: “It is crazy to accept small and boring jobs just because they look good on your resume; it’s like saving the fun of youth for old age.” Therefore, he advised people to work at what they love and with people they respect, because that gives them the best chance to succeed and enjoy life.

Schroeder believes this advice is of great importance, because a person spends at work hours that may exceed the time they spend with their family, making the work environment and professional relationships among the most important factors for success and distinction.
