Fed Proposes Customer ID Rule for Stablecoin Issuers

The Federal Reserve released a 130-page rule proposal requiring stablecoin issuers to maintain customer identification programs. The proposal is part of implementing the GENIUS Act and would align stablecoin standards more closely with the Bank Secrecy Act. The OCC, FDIC, and NCUA were also involved in the proposed rulemaking.
