Golden Finance reported that on June 20, citing information from multiple current and former U.S. officials, the Washington Post said that several U.S. intelligence agencies have issued a warning to the Trump administration: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu may take action to undermine President Trump’s efforts to reach a long-term peace agreement with Iran. At present, Netanyahu is facing immense domestic political pressure and has no choice but to continue waging war in Lebanon.

An American official who has seen this intelligence report revealed that the latest U.S. intelligence assessment concludes that, ahead of this fall’s domestic election, whether Netanyahu can hold on to the prime ministership depends on his ability to convince the people of his country that he will not withdraw troops from Lebanon, and that he is determined to escalate the fighting with Hezbollah. The U.S. intelligence report also pointed out that Israel is deeply dissatisfied with the terms of Trump’s peace memorandum, as the content of the agreement undermines Israel’s core objectives.
