My Gate journey started on a cold night in late 2022 when I made my first deposit of 200 USDT. What attracted me was Gate’s reputation for listing promising projects early. I bought a small-cap token, watched it rise 40% within hours, and thought I had discovered the secret to easy profits. Three days later, reality arrived.

Excited by my early success, I moved into futures trading. Without understanding leverage or risk management, I opened a 10x long position on a token that had been pumping for days. Overnight, the market corrected. By morning, my account balance was zero. My first liquidation taught me a painful lesson: I wasn’t trading—I was gambling.

Instead of quitting, I stepped back. For two months, I focused on learning. I studied market structure, support and resistance, liquidity, order flow, and trading psychology. I observed newly listed projects on Gate and noticed that the first 48 hours after listing were often the most volatile. Projects that survived the hype usually formed stronger opportunities later. That observation became the foundation of my first real strategy.

When I returned in early 2023, I deposited 500 USDT and followed four strict rules:

✅ Never risk more than 2% on a single trade
✅ Always use a stop loss
✅ Keep leverage below 3x until consistency is proven
✅ Journal every trade

Those rules changed everything. Trading became a process instead of a guessing game. My wins became smaller but more consistent, and my losses became controlled.

One of my most important lessons came from watching the order book of a newly listed token. A massive sell wall appeared at a key level. Many traders chased momentum, but the wall never broke. Hours later, the token dropped nearly 30%. I stayed out and protected my capital. That experience taught me that liquidity often reveals traps before price does.

The toughest period came during August 2023. I experienced seven losing trades in a row. The temptation to increase leverage and recover quickly was strong, but I refused to break my rules. Instead, I reviewed my trading journal and discovered that many losses occurred during low-volume conditions. I adjusted my strategy, became more selective, and the following month delivered significantly better results.

Another unexpected benefit of Gate was the community. Through Gate Square, I connected with traders who approached markets from different perspectives—technical, fundamental, and sentiment-based. Reading their insights helped me expand my thinking, while sharing my own experiences improved my discipline and accountability.

My breakthrough trade came later that year. I tracked a project with strong fundamentals, waited for post-listing volatility to settle, identified a solid support zone, and entered only when volume confirmed accumulation. The trade lasted eleven days. It tested my patience multiple times, but I followed my plan exactly as written. When my target was reached, the position returned 65%. More importantly, it proved that a disciplined process works.

Today, I still remember that first liquidation. I remember staring at a zero balance and wondering what went wrong. Looking back, that loss became one of the most valuable lessons of my trading journey.

My portfolio has grown since then, but the number itself is not what matters most. What matters is how it was built—one lesson, one mistake, and one disciplined decision at a time.

If I could give one piece of advice to anyone starting on Gate today, it would be this:

Start small. Learn before you leverage. Focus on risk management before profits. Use losses as feedback instead of frustration. The market rewards discipline far more than excitement.

Gate provides the tools. The community provides the perspective. The market provides the lessons.

What you do with them becomes your story.
