BlockBeats News, June 20 — According to The New York Times, the preliminary agreement recently reached between the United States and Iran has encountered significant confusion during its implementation process, with key details still unclear, including whether the Strait of Hormuz will maintain free passage.

The report states that less than a week after the agreement was announced, it has already sparked disagreements among multiple parties, including the cancellation of the originally scheduled signing or negotiation in Switzerland, the temporary withdrawal of U.S. Vice President JD Vance's itinerary, and the indefinite postponement of subsequent talks. The Swiss foreign ministry said that preparations are still ongoing, but negotiations have been paused with no timetable for resumption.

There is also considerable uncertainty regarding the content of the agreement itself. Both the U.S. and Iran have differing interpretations of the terms; the U.S. claims the agreement involves more commitments, while Iran has not confirmed this. Key issues include Iran’s nuclear program arrangements, sanctions relief mechanisms, and the freedom of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, all of which have been postponed to subsequent 60-day negotiation cycles, but these negotiations are currently on hold.

Meanwhile, the U.S. and Israel have clear differences in their positions on the agreement. Israel has stated that it is not bound by the agreement and continues to maintain military operations in the region, further increasing the uncertainty of the situation.

Analysts point out that although this agreement is seen as an attempt to ease tensions in the Middle East, its stability remains a significant challenge due to the lack of a clear implementation framework and ongoing negotiation mechanisms. The global energy and shipping markets' uncertainties have also increased accordingly.
