Let me say something about the Igbo people.

The Igbo are republican by nature. That is why I find it amusing when some politicians from the South East make bold political declarations on behalf of the people.
The truth is simple: the South East cannot be forced to vote for any political party, including the All Progressives Congress, simply because of political alignment or pressure. Igbo voters do not primarily vote based on tribe, religion, or ethnicity. We place a high value on competence, performance, and proven leadership. We support those we believe have the capacity to deliver real results.
At this moment, the only politician in the South East who comes close to commanding the kind of organic grassroots support enjoyed by Peter Obi is Alex Otti. Beyond that, no other politician in the region currently commands that level of credibility or public trust.
So when Igbos speak passionately about Peter Obi, it is not blind loyalty or sentiment. It is rooted in a strong belief in his competence, leadership style, and ability to govern effectively. In the South East, competence matters deeply, and excellence is respected.
Many people do not even understand why he is nicknamed Okwute Ndi Igbo: the Rock of the Igbo people. That name was not given casually; it reflects strength, resilience, and unwavering conviction.
Peter Obi is not your regular politician. Those who benefit from Nigeria’s current structure of corruption and institutional criminality understand this, perhaps even more than ordinary Nigerians do. That is exactly why they fight him relentlessly every single day. They know he represents a disruption to a system from which they have long profited.
Take it or leave it, many believe Peter Obi remains a strong contender for Nigeria’s presidency. And if that day comes when he becomes President, it will trigger celebrations across the country, as millions who desire a new Nigeria will see it as the beginning of real change.
Shalom 🙏
