According to Beating Insight monitoring, OpenAI has introduced a new feature called “Recording and Reproduction” for its coding agent Codex. This feature allows users to demonstrate a daily, repetitive workflow to Codex once (for example, filling out an expense report or submitting a leave request). Codex can then convert that demonstration into a structured skill that can be reviewed and edited for later automated reuse. Users can independently control when recording starts and stops.

This feature is currently only available on the macOS client and is an optional configuration. During the initial rollout phase, the available regions exclude the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, and Switzerland. In addition, users or their administrators must enable the “Computer Use” permission in order to use this feature.
