Cardano’s founder issues a call to move to Discord, harshly criticizes X’s toxic snark culture, and refuses to be traffic-railroaded
Cardano founder Hoskinson urges the community to move from X to Discord to build a healthier technical exchange culture and spark discussions on balanced exposure.
Hoskinson Urges Cardano Community to Gradually Shift to Discord
Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson recently said publicly that he hopes the Cardano community can gradually shift its focus from X to Discord in the future, sparking widespread discussion within the cryptocurrency community.

Hoskinson believes that the current discussion environment on X is filled with aggressive remarks, emotional bickering, and traffic-driven content, and that many valuable technical exchanges and constructive discussions are often drowned out. He said that if the Cardano community wants to build a healthier culture of communication, it needs a platform that can accumulate knowledge and discussion outcomes over the long term.
He emphasized that this idea is not asking everyone to leave X immediately; rather, it aims to build a community space centered on Discord, where developers, researchers, and community members can engage in deeper and more sustained exchanges.
As issues in community culture emerge, the crypto community begins to reflect on traffic-driven models
Hoskinson pointed out that in recent years, the crypto industry has increasingly been influenced by social media algorithms, where controversial content often attracts more attention than technical analysis. Many discussions have also shifted from product development and industry growth to emotional confrontation and factional conflict.
He believes that this kind of environment can easily reduce developers’ willingness to participate and leave newcomers to the industry with a negative impression of the crypto community.
By contrast, Discord offers more complete channel management and community governance tools. It allows different discussion spaces to be created according to topics, making exchanges more focused on real issues.
In recent years, an increasing number of blockchain projects have moved technical discussions, governance proposals, and developer collaboration to Discord, Telegram, or dedicated forums. This also reflects a gradual decline in the crypto community’s reliance on public community platforms.
Community opinions are polarized—how to balance public exposure and in-depth exchange
However, Hoskinson’s proposal has also prompted different views. Some community members believe that X is still the most important public information platform in the current crypto industry, where many market updates, industry news, research reports, and governance proposals are disseminated through X first.
Many people also believe that there is no inherent conflict between the two. X can still serve as a channel for information sharing and brand promotion, while Discord is better suited for community governance, technical collaboration, and in-depth discussions—forming a dual-track model.
Crypto community governance enters a new stage
This debate reflects that the blockchain industry is facing new community governance challenges. As the industry grows in scale, how to balance public transparency, the efficiency of information dissemination, and the quality of discussion has gradually become a common issue faced by major public chains and communities alike.
From Discord and Telegram to emerging social platforms like Farcaster, the crypto industry has continued exploring community models that are more suitable for long-term development in recent years. What lies behind platform selection involves not only user habits, but also community culture, governance approaches, and the efficiency of knowledge accumulation.
For Cardano, Hoskinson’s remarks have successfully sparked the community’s reflection on platform dependence and exchange quality. Whether Cardano will see a large-scale platform migration in the future, or whether it will gradually build a new structure centered on Discord with X serving as an external window, remains to be seen.
