SpaceX's investment banking team is preparing for a bond issuance of at least $20 billion.

Deep Tide TechFlow News, June 19 — SpaceX plans to make its first bond issuance, according to people familiar with the matter. The cooperation investment-banking team for SpaceX (SPCX.O) is expected to hold an investor conference call as early as next week to discuss a bond issuance plan after the company completes a record-breaking IPO. The sources said the size of this bond issuance is expected to be at least $20 billion, with investor communications starting as early as Monday; the relevant proposal and timeline may still change.

SpaceX plans to issue its first investment-grade U.S. dollar bonds, and the proceeds will be used to refinance a $20 billion bridge loan due in September 2027. The IPO registration filing submitted to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission shows that, as of March 31, this bridge loan accounts for the majority of the company’s $29.1 billion in long-term debt. The sources said that Bank of America, Citigroup, JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, and Morgan Stanley jointly provided the bridge loan and will lead underwriting for this bond issuance. (Jin10)
