The first Chinese executive director of the Ethereum Foundation took office and left after one year; Vitalik spoke highly of their contributions.
Mars Finance News: On June 18, the Ethereum Foundation’s first Chinese executive director, Hsiao-Wei Wang, announced her resignation today. In her announcement, she said, “I’ve decided to prioritize my personal life and future direction. This is the right time to step back behind the scenes, and I’m still thinking about what my next step should be.”
In response, Vitalik Buterin posted a message to highly commend Hsiao-Wei Wang’s contributions, calling her “a steadfast contributor to the Ethereum ecosystem for the past ten years,” and adding that he “looks forward to her next adventures.”
On March 10, 2025, the Ethereum Foundation (EF) announced that Wang Xiaowei (Hsiao-Wei Wang, Chinese name Wang Xiaowei) was promoted to the board of directors, becoming the first Chinese leader to be elevated from the technical grassroots to the EF board in the seven years since EF was established.
