BlockBeats News, June 18 — With just over a week remaining before the U.S. Senate adjourns on July 4, pro-cryptocurrency senators and government officials are continuing behind-the-scenes negotiations to have the Clarity Act put to a full vote once lawmakers return. According to sources, a bipartisan group of senators from the Senate Banking Committee and Agriculture Committee is expected to hold a meeting this morning to discuss unresolved issues.

Later today, Acting Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche will meet with law enforcement agencies, as the government continues to push for support for a key but highly controversial provision of the Blockchain Regulatory Certainty Act. This measure would clearly specify that certain non-custodial software developers are not responsible for how third parties use their code unless they knowingly and intentionally facilitate illegal activities.
