Jinshi Finance reported that on June 18, U.S. President Donald Trump said at a press conference on June 17 local time after the conclusion of the G7 summit that he may continue to stay in Europe to attend the signing ceremony of the U.S.-Iran memorandum of understanding, but he may not, because after all it is “not a document so important that it has to be signed by him.” When answering a reporter’s question, he also joked, “If the signing ceremony goes ahead, I’ll take the credit; if it doesn’t, I’ll blame (U.S. Vice President) Vance.” When asked about “setting up a $300 billion fund for Iran’s reconstruction and economic development,” Trump emphasized that “the United States won’t pay,” but if Iran “does well and follows the rules,” the United States will allow it to sell oil and will allow others to invest in Iran. Trump also once again threatened that “if Iran defaults, U.S. military forces will bomb it.” However, reporters on site questioned that “the memorandum of understanding does not include any relevant compulsory enforcement provisions.” Trump responded, “Does it really have to be (compulsory enforcement provisions)?” (CCTV International News)
