Federal Reserve Chair Powell: The Federal Reserve has the ability to achieve the 2% target

Golden Finance reported that on June 18, Federal Reserve Chair Worsh said at a press conference that the Federal Reserve has the ability to achieve the 2% target—this is exactly what they intend to do. The committee is “clearly and consistently” committed to achieving the 2% inflation goal. He noted that the current elevated inflation is due to supply shocks. In addition, when asked about forward guidance, he did not provide specific details, but said that the Federal Reserve’s policies appear to have suppressed the real estate market. Worsh said that press conferences are an effective way to communicate with American households and businesses, but he did not commit to holding a press conference after every future Federal Reserve meeting.
