Gold Finance reports that on June 18th, according to Reuters, a senior U.S. official stated on Wednesday that the memorandum of understanding between the U.S. and Iran to be signed this Friday is not a final binding agreement, and both sides can choose to withdraw.
The official publicly read out the content of the 14-point memorandum that will be officially signed in Switzerland and said that the next phase of negotiations will focus on the specific implementation order of the measures in the previous preliminary agreement.
The official stated: "I believe this meeting in Switzerland will be very critical and will determine how we move into the next phase."
He emphasized that the Switzerland talks will be a key step in ensuring that the memorandum of understanding further evolves into a comprehensive agreement.
According to the official's reading, the 14-point document is basically consistent with versions previously disclosed by multiple media outlets.
