#MyGateTradeStory One of the most important trading lessons I learned came during a period when everyone around me was extremely bullish.
Social media was full of excitement. Influencers were predicting new highs every day, and traders were posting screenshots of huge gains. Fear of missing out pushed me into a trade much larger than I normally would have taken.
At first, everything looked perfect. The price continued rising, and I felt like a genius. But instead of following my strategy, I let greed take control. I kept moving my take-profit target higher and higher because I believed the rally would never end.
Then reality arrived.
A sudden correction wiped out most of the gains I had been holding. What could have been a successful trade became a disappointing result because I ignored my own rules.
That moment taught me a powerful lesson: the market doesn't care about excitement, opinions, or emotions. Every trade should have a plan before it begins, including entry, risk level, and exit strategy.
Today, I still look for opportunities, but I never allow market hype to replace disciplined decision-making. Protecting capital is just as important as growing it.
The trade itself wasn't extraordinary, but the lesson it taught me changed the way I approach every position afterward.
