Michigan Judge Rules Sports Prediction Markets Outside CFTC Purview

A Michigan federal judge ruled that sports-related prediction market wagers are not swaps under CFTC jurisdiction. The court denied Polymarket’s request to block Michigan regulators from restricting its sports event contracts. The case is headed to the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals and could ultimately reach the U.S. Supreme Court.
