I'm not gonna lie, my first year in crypto was rough. I started like most beginners - bought some BTC, watched it do nothing, and got bored. Then I discovered meme coins on Gate and thought I'd found a money glitch.

There was this one coin, $CATSOMETHING (not sharing the actual name lol), that was pumping like crazy. I saw people in Telegram groups posting their 5x, 10x gains and I couldn't resist. I dumped $200 into it at what I thought was a "dip." The chart looked perfect, or so I convinced myself.
I was up 40% within two hours. Felt like a genius. Started calculating how much I'd make if it hit 1 dollar. Didn't even think about selling because greed took over.
Then came the dump. Not a slow one, but a straight vertical red candle. I froze. My mind kept saying "it'll bounce back, it always does." But it didn't. The coin dropped 80%. I ended up selling at a $250 loss, basically the bottom.
That night I couldn't sleep. Not because of the money, but because I realized how reckless I was. I had no plan, no stop-loss, no risk management. I was basically gambling, not trading.
That experience changed everything. Now I never enter a trade without setting a stop-loss on Gate. I take profits gradually instead of being greedy. And I actually research projects now instead of following hype.
My advice to beginners? Accept that you'll make mistakes. Just don't make expensive ones. Start small, learn risk management first, and treat every trade as a lesson. Crypto is a marathon, not a sprint. Gate has great tools for beginners, use them wisely.
