Amazon plans to compete with OpenAI and Anthropic in the frontier AI model space within the next year, according to CNBC.


Amazon's AI head Peter DeSantis said on Wednesday that the company intends to compete with OpenAI and Anthropic in the frontier AI model field over the coming year, and acknowledged that Amazon's models lag behind the two leading labs on the most demanding workloads.
DeSantis pointed out that the company is taking a deliberate approach, strengthening its underlying capabilities through data, architecture, and infrastructure.
Amazon's latest model, Nova2, launched in December and has attracted approximately 50,000 customers so far.
