#USIran14PointMemoLeaked
🚨 BREAKING: The 14-Point US-Iran Memorandum Just Leaked — And It Reshapes Everything
A draft 14-point Memorandum of Understanding between the United States and Iran has been leaked, first published by Al Arabiya and Iranian state media outlet Mehr News. While neither government has officially confirmed the full text — with US officials dismissing circulating versions as inaccurate — the document outlines what could become one of the most consequential geopolitical agreements in decades.
Here's what the leaked draft reportedly contains:
1. Immediate & Permanent Ceasefire Both sides declare an end to hostilities on all fronts — including Lebanon — and commit to no further use of force or threats against each other.
2. Reopening of the Strait of Hormuz The US naval blockade would be lifted within 30 days, restoring the flow of roughly one-fifth of global oil and LNG shipments through this critical chokepoint.
3. Release of Frozen Iranian Assets Approximately $24 billion in frozen Iranian funds would be released in phases over 60 days, with half released upfront before final negotiations begin.
4. Oil Sanctions Relief Immediate waivers on Iranian oil sales would be granted upon signing, potentially injecting significant supply into global markets.
5. $300 Billion Economic Rehabilitation Plan The US commits to work with regional partners on a comprehensive economic development and reconstruction plan for Iran, with financing of at least $300 billion.
6. Non-Interference Pledge The US would pledge not to interfere in Iran's internal affairs, and commit to withdrawing forces from areas surrounding Iran.
7. Nuclear Program — Deferred to Final Talks Both parties maintain the status quo on Iran's nuclear program during the 60-day negotiation window. Iran reaffirms it will not produce nuclear weapons under the NPT. However, the missile program is reportedly excluded from this phase. All enriched material and nuclear-related issues are to be addressed in the final agreement, to be approved by the UN Security Council.
8. Sovereignty & Mutual Respect Both nations reaffirm respect for each other's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The Gap Between the Draft and Reality
The most striking aspect isn't just the content — it's the disconnect. Washington and Tehran appear to be telling two completely different stories about what they actually agreed to. US officials have called circulating versions "fake news," stating the real framework is shorter and more conditional. Meanwhile, Iranian media is promoting this draft as the actual deal.
Critics have raised serious concerns: the $300B rehabilitation commitment, the absence of Israel from the text, the lack of immediate nuclear curbs, and the strategic limitations the US would accept in the region.
Market Impact — Immediate and Massive
Oil prices plunged over 4% on the initial announcement, with Brent crude dropping below $80 — down more than one-third from conflict peaks. Global bond yields fell on inflation relief hopes. Stocks surged. But analysts caution that restoring pre-conflict shipping and production levels will take time, and US strategic petroleum reserves are at their lowest since 1983.
What's Next
The MOU is reportedly set to be formally signed on Friday, June 20. The 60-day negotiation window that follows will determine whether this draft becomes a lasting agreement — or another chapter in a long history of failed US-Iran diplomacy.
One thing is certain: the world is watching. And the stakes couldn't be higher.
