Report: Trump advisor considers potential structure for U.S. government stake in AI giants

Jinse Finance reported that on June 17, Semafor, citing unnamed insiders, said that before the Trump administration implemented export controls on Anthropic, senior officials had weighed how to structure the government’s potential equity stake in major artificial intelligence companies. U.S. Treasury Secretary Bessent supported using equity in AI companies to provide seed funding for Trump’s account. U.S. Commerce Secretary Lutnick, on the other hand, preferred placing the equity into some form of sovereign wealth fund. The discussions were still in an early stage and no decision had been made.
