CoinWorld reported that a three-judge panel of the U.S. Second Circuit Court of Appeals unanimously upheld Sam Bankman-Fried’s fraud conviction and his 25-year prison sentence. The court rejected his claims of an unfair trial, saying that the evidentiary rulings did not interfere with his right to a fair defense, adding that the government’s evidence was very compelling, and noting that Bankman-Fried was one of the key drivers behind the collapse of the cryptocurrency exchange FTX. In a 42-page opinion, the judges reviewed the arguments regarding trial fairness and found them unpersuasive. Bankman-Fried was convicted in 2023 for misappropriating customer funds. The appellate ruling upheld his sentence and the forfeiture order of $11 billion.
