According to Bernstein, building a 1GW AI data center using Nvidia's next-generation Vera Rubin architecture is expected to be deployed by 2027, with a total capital expenditure of approximately $47 billion. The cost of a single Vera Rubin NVL72 rack is estimated at $9.1 million, and a 1GW facility requires 3,557 racks, with equipment costs reaching $32 billion, and supporting infrastructure adding another $15 billion. The Vera Rubin architecture provides 2,520 FP8 computing power per rack, more than tripling the 720 petaflops of the current Blackwell system; although the cost per rack increases by 14%, it still improves the cost efficiency per unit of computation.
