My Gate Trading Moment: The Turning Point from "All-in" to "Learning to Survive"

Hello everyone, I am an ordinary veteran in the crypto circle. I entered the industry in 2019, and I started to trade steadily on Gate in 2021. At that time, I was constantly browsing various groups and tweets, thinking I could seize every opportunity, but I ended up paying a lot of tuition fees.

The most unforgettable trade for me was actually a "bottom fishing" during the 2022 bear market. At that time, the LUNA/UST incident was causing a huge stir. I saw on Gate that the price had been halved again and again, and I thought this wave was over and a rebound was coming. I had some spare money, so I went all-in directly, even adding some leverage (which now I realize was really stupid).

Initially, I did make a small profit, and I was happily watching the candlestick charts, feeling I finally caught the opportunity. But a few days later, after the news broke, the price plummeted. I didn’t cut my losses in time, kept thinking "wait a bit, it will come back." In the end, my margin kept thinning until a liquidation happened. The feeling of my account hitting zero at that moment was like being doused with a bucket of cold water, from head to toe.

That night, I couldn’t sleep, repeatedly reviewing my trading records and on-chain data, only then realizing I had not managed risk properly, just gambling with luck. It wasn’t that the market was wrong, but that I wasn’t prepared.

Since then, my trading style on Gate has completely changed. I started strictly implementing stop-loss (selling at most 20%, no holding on to losing positions), and kept my position size within 10-15% of my total funds. Gate’s tools helped me a lot—real-time clear data, user-friendly candlesticks, low contract fees, making execution smooth. Gradually, I shifted from only trading spot and meme coins to doing some financial management and startup projects. When the market is bad, I just hold some fixed income investments, no longer staring at the screen with my heart pounding every day.

Recently, Gate has also added prediction markets and US stock-related services. I tried some World Cup predictions, combining news and data to place small bets, feeling that trading has become a long-term learning process rather than a gamble for quick riches. Over the years, the platform has been continuously evolving, from the old "Sesame" to now with more and more features, really friendly to us ordinary users.

That liquidation trade didn’t make me money, but it completely changed my understanding: making money in crypto is hard, but surviving is even harder. **Choosing the right platform, managing your mindset, and sticking to discipline** are the keys to long-term success.
